Social learning theory that emphasize the role of Social variables to a greater extent than existing learning theories. Consequently appear more capable of accounting for the development and modification of human behaviors. Social learning theory represents a integration of many research efforts and an attempt to relate these to findings obtained from controlled investigations in¢¥a number of areas, including child development and social psychology, as well as experimental psychology.
It illustrates the applicability of social learning theory to a wide range of important social phenomena, including clinical practice. Many research on modeling based on the social learning theory have been performed in nursing, medicine, dental, psychotherapeutics for recent 10 years. It indicates that this modeling offers all ages a means of reducing fear as well as its preventive measure. Modeling techniques also decrease patients¢¥ anxiety, pain, distress and sympathetic arousal while increasing behavior adaptation, coping ability and cooperation. These effects can be applied to nursing practice in similar stressful situations.
